Festivals on Rhodes
· 25 March- Independence Day, on this day in 1821 the revolt against the Turkish rule Began. This Day is celebrated with the military and the school parades.
· 23rd April- Agios Georgios (St George's Day) is celebrated in the Village of Kritinia
· 1st of May- Bank Holiday
· 14 June- The Monastery of Profit Amos in Faliraki is celebrated. Dance ,music, BBQ, Greek music and lots of fun - an original Greek Night.
· 29 June- Saint Petros and Saint Pavlos (St Peter and St Paul's Day) is marked by special celebrations in the beautiful St Paul's Bay close to Lindos Village.
· 16 July- Festival of Agias Marinas in Apolakia Village
· 16 July- Aghia Marina in the small town of Paradisi and in Koskinou.
· 19 July- Profit Ilias, Ilias church on mount Profiti Ilias and the monastery of Profiti Ilias in Faliraki located on the mount of Faliraki.
· 20 July- Festival of Agios Filimonas in Arnitha Village.
· 29/30 July- Agios Soulas at St Silias, Soroni - competitive events and donkey races
· 5-6 August - Kiotari Festival of Sotiros
· 14 August- Asklipios Vilage Festival Kimiseos Theotokou
· 15 August- Vati village in Rhodes Festival of Virgin Galatousas
· 15 August- Istrios village in Rhodes Festival of Saint Merkouris
· 15th August- Dormition of the Virgin, celebrated throughout Rhodes
· 14th -23rd August- Panagia Festival at Kremasti. There are many side stalls and a small fun fair for the smaller children ,very lively and a great atmosphere
· 23 August - Festival of Saint Savvas in Genadi Vilage Southern Rhodes.
· 28 August- Profilia Village in Southern of Rhodos Festival of Saint John.
· 29th August- St Johns Festival at the monastery of St John near Kalithies Village 6km from Faliraki, B.B.Q very lively ,music Greek Dances, small fun fair for children.
· 8th September- Festival of the holy Virgin at Mount Tsampika, dedicated to all women wishing to conceive. They crawl to the top of mount Tsampika on hands and knees in the hope that they may blessed with child.
· 13-14 September -Timiou Stavrou in Kalithies, the main festival of Kalithies. Good souvlaki ,drinks, lots of Greek dances, original Greek night .Don't miss it. Fun fair for children and lots of Greek music and fun.
· 27 September- Tourism day. The grand orchestra of Kallithea Municipality and the orchestra of Stefanos Kazelis play traditional Greek folk dances in Faliraki main square .
· 17th October- Aghios Loukas, village celebrations in the small village of Afandou
· 28th October - Ochi day. On this day in 1940 the Greek Government defied Mussolini's ultimatum demanding capitulation .Because of this historic "no" the day is called "Ochi day" and is celebrated with school and military parades in the capital and at the Villages as well.
· Easter is a very important religious festival in Greece, and is celebrated with parades, candlelit services, flowers and much food and drink. The date varies from some other European Easter dates, but always falls in the Spring.
